How Alerts Work
Your alert is on the moment you save it. We email you a receipt naming it, with nothing to click.
Sign in, then follow an event from its page or set up an alert from your account dashboard.
It starts at once
There is nothing to confirm. Your alert is on the moment you save it, and alerts go to the email address you signed in with.
Your receipt
We email you a receipt naming the alert: where, what, how serious and how often, and the address alerts go to. It has nothing to click. One link in it takes you to your account, where you can change or stop the alert. When you change an alert, you get a receipt for the change too.
Sending alerts to another address
If you choose a different address for your alerts, we email that address once to check it is yours, so alerts never reach someone who did not ask for them. Alerts to the address you signed in with need no check.
How often
Right away is the default: an alert reaches you as soon as we publish what it matches. In your account you can choose once a day, in a digest, instead. Life-safety warnings, such as tornado and flash flood warnings, still come right away.
What every account includes
Every Global account can keep one standing alert and follow up to five events. Alerts come right away; you can choose once a day, in a digest, instead. Webhooks, a personal RSS feed and the Alert API are not part of any account today.
Unsubscribing
Every alert email carries an unsubscribe link, and your mail app's own Unsubscribe button works too.
