Former State Duma deputy Oleg Mikhailov detained in Moscow

Former State Duma deputy and regional Communist Party official Oleg Mikhailov has been detained in Moscow on charges of justifying terrorism over a 2024 publication regarding sociologist Boris Kagarlitsky. The Communist Party's regional branch reported the detention ahead of a court hearing scheduled for 22 October to decide on pre-trial restrictions.
