Philippines summons Chinese ambassador over remarks on use of force

The Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs summoned Chinese Ambassador Jing Quan following public statements concerning the potential use of force. While some Philippine senators called for the ambassador to be declared persona non grata, the presidential palace indicated it would not take that step. Further diplomatic responses from both governments remain unconfirmed.
