Houthi missile fire directed at Riyadh airport prompts extended closure

Explosions were heard across Riyadh on the night of the 12th as Houthi forces in Yemen claimed a ballistic missile attack on King Khalid International Airport, while the Saudi-led coalition stated it intercepted and destroyed the incoming fire. Authorities have extended the airport's closure through Saturday following repeated strikes, with nationwide flight cancellation rates reported near 46 percent. While one account reports substantial casualties from the weekend attacks, specific numbers remain unconfirmed.
