Hang Seng Index opens higher on state fund speculation before paring gains
Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index opened 223 points higher at 24,434 following regulatory discussions on capital market support measures, before narrowing its morning gains to close midday up 42 points at 24,253. Financial stocks led the initial rise, with the Bank of China reaching a record high while technology and leveraged instruments showed mixed movements. It is not yet clear whether regulators will introduce substantial market intervention policies following the weekend symposium.
