Voltage dip across Kowloon and New Territories triggers over 100 elevator entrapments

A brief voltage dip across a 400,000-volt power supply line between Lai Chi Kok and Tsz Wan Shan caused widespread elevator stoppages and fire alarms across parts of Kowloon and the New Territories. The Fire Services Department received at least 105 reports of people trapped in lifts within a twenty-minute period following the incident at around 1:09 p.m. CLP Power stated that power supply was not interrupted, and the specific cause of the dip remains under investigation.
