Grassland fire in Mongolia approaches Inner Mongolia border

A grassland fire that originated in Mongolia on 9 October has moved toward the border with China's Inner Mongolia region, prompting the deployment of more than 2,000 personnel to contain it. Emergency teams including forest fire brigades have been positioned along the frontier in Xilin Gol and Hinggan leagues to prevent the fire from crossing. As of the evening of 11 October, the fire had not crossed the border, though containment operations remain active.
