Taipei police raids on gay bars draw community criticism

Police in Taipei searched a BDSM bar in Ximending with warrants, prompting accusations from patrons and civil society groups over alleged improper conduct and detention procedures during the operation. Further reports indicated that two other gay bars were also searched during the same period. Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an stated that police acted under court warrants but instructed the department to review the operations and clarify procedures publicly.
