Former mayor Javier Oropeza detained by police in Lara

Officers from the Bolivarian National Police detained former Torres municipality mayor Francisco Javier Oropeza Álvarez on Thursday, according to local media reports. He was reportedly intercepted by a vehicle as he left an interview at the offices of El Informador, approximately 48 hours after returning to Venezuela. The official charges associated with his detention have not been confirmed.
