Türkiye revokes operating license of Iran's Bank Mellat in Istanbul
Türkiye's banking regulator has revoked the operating license of the Istanbul branch of Bank Mellat, an Iranian state-owned institution operating in the country since 1982. The regulatory authority cited risks to the stability of the financial system following prior restrictions, including removal from the SWIFT and domestic EFT systems under United States sanctions. It remains unconfirmed what immediate procedures will govern the liquidation or transfer of the branch's remaining assets.
