Two people have died and 90 others suffered breathing difficulties following an ammonia gas leak at the Southern Fertilizer Plant in Basra's Khor Al-Zubair industrial area on Sunday. Al-Zubair District Mayor Abbas Maher said the affected included plant workers and nearby residents, most of whom experienced mild cases and have been discharged from hospital. It is not yet clear what caused the leak to occur.
